EP 006 - Kaz Kazanoff

In EP 006 of Artsy Talks, we sit down with Austin musician and ceramicist Kaz Kazanoff for a conversation that moves between two very different creative worlds. Most Austinites know Kaz as the frontman of The Texas Horns, the legendary horn section behind some of the biggest names in blues and jazz. What many don't know is that Kaz has been quietly developing a deep passion for pottery — throwing pots on the wheel, firing pieces in two kilns, and chasing the unpredictable magic of Raku firing right in his own backyard.

Kaz talks about how his mother's lifelong dedication to pottery planted a seed that took years to bloom, and how many of his ceramic works come to him in dreams. This episode is a beautiful reminder that creativity doesn't live in just one lane — and that some of the most exciting work happens when artists let themselves explore the unexpected.
